Miss Capital City &  Miss Capital City USA On a rainy Saturday afternoon The Road to Hollywood paid a visit to Tallahassee for the sixth edition of Miss Capital City/Tallahassee USA and Teen USA. It was the third time this local tradition has been broadcast with this year’s edition being seen on Fox-49. The eight Miss USA and six Miss Teen USA contestants hit the stage in either red (USA) or white (Teen USA) cocktail dresses as the enthusiastic audience and camera’s greeted the delegates.       Bailey Powell introduces herself to the audience       Hosting the broadcast were Miss Tallahassee USA 2008 Jami Lynn Daniels and Miss Tallahassee Teen USA 2008 Kelly Haffner with Miss Capital City Teen USA Brittany Pate adding color commentary. The pageant began with self introductions that were followed by the interview competition. Each delegate drew a question and then answered before the judges and audience. Then it was time for the swimsuit and evening gown competitions.   The judges for the afternoon competition included Marsha Doll, President of Marsha Doll Models and Promogirl.com; Lisa Marie Thomas, Television Producer; Gil Ziffer, President and Owner of Ziffer/Stansberry Marketing and Communications; Dr. Karen Nicholas, Mrs. Florida and Florida State University Professor; and Jonell Murphy, Justice Administration Commission.         Locklyn Tucker, Victoria Woods and Rachel Gray in their Opening outfits       First up were the special awards for the weekend. Miss Amity was Vida Sheffield and Miss Photogenic was Gina Benitez who now have qualified for Miss Florida USA this July in Hollywood. These awards were handed out by Miss Tallahassee USA 2006 Shannon Burton and Miss River City USA 2009 Laurie Conley.   Then the stage was left to the Miss Capital City Teen USA contestants as Ms. Daniels and Miss Hastey read the results; The first runner up is Locklyn Tucker The new Miss Capital City Teen USA 2009 is Victoria Woods The new Miss Tallahassee Teen USA 2009 is Mattie Barwick   The pageant ended with the Miss Capital City USA results; The second runner up is Ashley Washington The first runner up is Bailey Powell The new Miss Tallahassee USA 2009 is Heather Elwell The new Miss Capital City USA 2009 is Vida Sheffield       Onstage with Team Tallahasse USA       Congratulations to the new Team Tallahassee USA of Miss Woods, Miss Barwick, Ms. Elwell and Ms. Sheffield as the represent The Capital City this summer in Hollywood. Also a big thank you goes to The Florida Museum of History Staff; RA Gray Theater; Fox-49 WDHL Tallahassee and our hard working staff and volunteers as pageantry returned in a big way to North Florida. Look for the broadcast this upcoming March 15th at 5:00pm and then a rebroadcast at March 23rd at noon on Fox-49 in Tallahassee and Thomasville.   The Road to Hollywood returns next Saturday as we venture south on I-75 to the Miss Tampa USA and Miss Tampa Teen USA pageants.
