The Miss Florida USA season officially started Sunday afternoon as the third Miss Broward County USA & Broward County Teen USA Pageants was contested at The Southeast Florida Collins Community Center. Produced by Halavin Productions four Miss USA and three Miss Teen USA delegates competed for the chance to represent Broward at Miss Florida USA and Miss Florida Teen USA.

The evening started with the introductions of the host and hostess of the evening Barry Alpert and Miss Broward County USA 2008 Lindsay Shockey and Miss Broward County Teen USA Constancia Vilomar who handled the backstage and behind the scenes reporting. After introducing the pageant and local dignitaries including several preliminary titleholders and directors it was time to bring out the contestants. With the delegates entering through the audience the presented themselves in their black and white James Bond outfits. They greeted the judges and audience signaling the pageant was underway. During their introductions each delegate added a tidbit about themselves to the audience.

The stage competition began with swimsuits as the delegates wore one or two- piece suits of their own choosing. Then it was everybody’s favorite the evening gown competition. First the teen delegates and then the miss delegates all had the chance to show off their personal fashion sense. The delegates returned onstage for one last chance to make an impression on the judges with the interview questions.

Now all was left was to announce the special prizes and announce the finalists. Both groups were awarded Miss Amity and Photogenic honors, the Teen USA results were read first followed by the Miss USA results. Miss Amity went to Jamila Jones and Ashley Washington. A special Pageantry Spirit award went to Jennifer Olkininsky for her work with young women. A community involvement award went to Noelle Johnson for her efforts and involvements in Aid’s Walk 2006. Then Miss Photogenic titles went to Miss Avery and Ms. Olkininsky. 

 

 

Then it was announced that there was a tie in the Teen USA division and that while they re-voted a second round of onstage interviews were requested. Then it was time to read the results for Miss Southeast Florida Teen USA and the final results were:

2nd runner up - Jamila Jones

1st runner up - Jasmin Avery

The first Miss Southeast Florida Teen USA is Rossana Pujol

After the crowning moments it was time for the miss contestants to take the spotlight as the final results were announced:

3rd Runner Up - Jennifer Olkinitsky
2ne Runner Up - Ashley Washington
1st Runner Up - Noele Johnson
The first Miss Southeast Florida USA is Christian Ericksen

Congratulations to Miss Pujol and Ms. Ericksen as they represent Ft. Lauderdale and Southeast Florida at state. Also a congratulation’s goes to the staff and volunteers at Halavin Productions for an outstanding pageant. Up next on The Road To Hollywood we venture to Melbourne in two weeks!
