The First Miss Florida USA Pageant in The Panhandle

The fourth preliminary pageant season for Miss Florida USA started with a pageant doubleheader in Panama City. Miss Tallahassee USA having been crowned but a few hours earlier, now it was time for the hometown pageant as over 300 attendees greeted the 23 Miss Emerald Coast USA and 24 Miss Emerald Coast Teen USA delegates. The Marina Civic Center in downtown Panama City right on the Gulf Coast was the evenings host.

 

The 7:00pm start saw emcees Paul Goulding and Miss Florida USA 2003 Carrie Mewha introduce the contestants, Teen USA delegates in white and USA delegates in black. After announcing several awards it was time for the top 10 announcements in both divisions.

 

 

The evenings two top 10 results were called out together.

The interview competition awaited the contestants as questions were selected at random. Before the competition each delegate submitted three potential questions for the evening. Hostess Carrie Mewha handled the interview duties as the judges and audience were privy to the competition.

Up next was the Swimsuit Phase as members of The United States Marines assisted the delegates as they navigated the three-tiered stage. Then the competition ended with Evening Gowns.

 

After two days of competition the results were handed to Miss Mewha and Mr. Goulding. This years judges included Brittany Anderson (model); Josh Maddox (Ralph Lauren Model); Gloria Dale Skinner (Romance Novelist); John Platt (Reality TV Producer); Glenda Thornton (Lawyer); Christy Fitchner (Miss USA 1986); Michell Arnette (Alabama USA 2003); Lawrence Robinson (Scriptwriter/Producer) and Lori Ramsley (Big Brother).
