Miss Florida USA Faces

As we play catch up after a week off we return to Panama City for the fifth edition of Miss Emerald Coast USA & Teen USA. It was a special afternoon as several of our Miss Florida USA family past and present joined us at the historic Martin Theater. Built in 1935 but rarely seeing the beauty that was present on a beautiful spring Sunday afternoon.

Hosted by Miss Florida USA 2004 Kristen Berset the pageant was fun and highly competitive. But the judges were up to the task as former Miss Maryland USA Lisa Lawson-Fish and assistant Miss Florida USA Pageant Director (1994 – 1996) as well as Miss Alabama USA 2001 Natalie Barnett and Miss Florida USA 2005 first runner up Lauren Howell.

We had a blast directing this years edition and are very pleased to pass the directing baton to Anna Nowling who herself was a contestant and assistant in the Miss California USA System. Up next is Miss City Beautiful/Orlando USA on May 18^th as the Road to Hollywood jumpstarts again after a month long hiatus.

Wouldn’t you know one of our favorite alumni, Lia Anter (Miss South Florida USA 2006) had a little surprise at this past Saturday’s Miss Miami USA 2009. As she was called out for a special un-named award it seems that the prize would be bigger then expected. After a brief delay out of the audience came her boyfriend who traveled from Iraq. He then was handed a microphone and dropped on one knee to propose.

Of course we have it all on Video so take a peak on this joyous moment and don’t forget your tissues.

- Kudos to Miss First Coast USA Ashley Washington; Miss Jacksonville USA: Kimyata Perry; Miss Jacksonville Teen USA Brittany Pate and Miss Capital City USA Vida Sheffield as they were special guests at Jacksonville’s annual World of Nations Celebration. The celebration honors cultural diversity, and is developed by the City of Jacksonville. Way to get involved in honoring all of our communities ladies!

- Kudos to our I-4 West Representatives as Miss Tampa USA 2009 Lees Daryanne Garcia, 2009 Miss Lakeland USA 2009 Allie Watkins and Miss Polk County USA 2009 Lynsey Coburn were special guests at the first ever Swan Derby Races in Lakeland. Lake Mirror was the setting as it was a fundraiser for Volunteers in Medicine. LVIM provides free medical care for uninsured, lower-income residents of Polk County. The treatment given comes from volunteer doctors, dentists, nurses and other health workers, backed up by community volunteers. Way to do a great job ladies!

The Envy Pageant Team made television history recently as they brought the highest TV ratings to the Fox 4 Morning Show. Aired live the gals did an outstanding job of showing off what Director Suzi Hosfeld called Pageant Boot Camp as these girls showed the TV audience what goes into pageant training.

From demonstrating workouts to showing off those swimsuit bodies these gals worked. The morning started early as a 5am studio call and 6am show left viewers with complete access to the lives of beauty queens. Host "Wild Bill" was in complete admiration as he explained to the audience that these girls are more than beautiful faces. Miss Florida West Coast USA - Anastasia Pavlenko speaks 4 languages. Miss Sarasota USA-Donna Snow is a college student with a double major and a perfect A grade as well as a professional BMX racer. Miss Sarasota Teen USA-Jenna Canfield is an actress and singer. While Miss Florida West Coast Teen USA- Morgan Lucas speaks Chinese amongst her many talents that proves we do have style and substance!
