» In The Audience: Miss West Broward USA

One of the most popular stops on The Road to Hollywood is the fourth annual Miss West Broward USA Pageant. This year was no exception as the lavish surroundings of The Township Center For The Performing Arts of Coconut Creek brought out a very competitive group of delegates as well as several of our Miss Florida USA Pageant family.

It was also great to catch up with our Miss Florida Teen USA Anastagia Pierre who we are very proud to announce that she has been accepted to The University of Florida. Look for her to be Dr. Pierre in the not too distant future! What a wonderful representative of what pageantry is all about….all in all it was one fun night of pageantry and a big congrats goes to Pageant Director Barbara Ewald on a wonderful event.

It was a great year for both

Miss Pedrique and Ms. Korka!

Look next week for our Faces & Places to have some candid pictures from in and around Miss USA from the Kodak Center (no pictures or video please! – says the tickets) and Los Angeles. Can’t wait to go to LA LA Land!

» Pageantry in Pictures

Israeli Druze Angelina Fares attends the Miss Israel beauty pageant in the northern city of Haifa March 13, 2007. Doaa Fares, who changed her name to Angelina for the pageant, was the first-ever contestant from the Druze religion to enter the Miss Israel Pageant. Israeli police arrested several men who allegedly threatened to kill Fares if she were to participate in the event. She withdrew from the competition following the threats.

» KUDOS & DID YOU KNOWS

- Kudos to Miss Avalon Park Teen USA 2007 Jeane Almulla, Founder of Empowering Young Girls Organization (EYGO), was asked to be the keynote speaker for the Girl Scout Annual "Fly In" March 11th in Tallahassee, Florida. Jeane presented her EYGO program on self esteem to over 60 girl scouts, mostly 12-16 yrs old,  who attended from councils throughout Florida. The girls earned crown stickers for participation and A certificate of completion for the program which entitles them to an earned patch with Girl Scouts. That is inspirational and what a great job Jeane!!

- Kudos to Team Halavin & Team West Broward USA participation in last Saturday’s Kidget Kids Reading Afternoon at Simon Mall’s Coral Square in Plantation. In attendance were Miss West Broward USA 2007 Chelse Korka; Miss West Broward Teen USA 2007 Adrian Pedrique; Miss Oakland Park USA 2008 Angela Overton; Miss Southeast Florida Teen USA 2008 Rossana Pujol; Miss Broward County Teen USA 2008 Costancia Vilomar  and Miss Oakland Park USA 2008 Angela Overton. The ladies read to the children along with their new friends from Disney Radio. Way to be role models for the young children everyone!
