2006 Year In Review:
It’s
always fun to look back on the year that was and 2006 was quite the year! With
so many preliminary pageants it seemed like there was one every weekend which
was so much fun. It was also great to see both our Miss Florida USA and Miss
Florida Teen USA have success at their respective national pageants. But
mostly it was a year of new and old friends who are all apart of our very
special Miss Florida USA Family.
September: After months of waiting it was time to kick off Miss Florida Teen USA 2007 with two weekends of pre-taping highlighted by the 5th annual PageantDiva.com Miss Florida Teen USA Seminar Day at The Hollywood Production Center. Fifty-six titleholders and qualifiers enjoyed water parks, beaches and a special family and friends gathering at Mama Mia’s that was so much fun. It all ended at The Hollywood Beach Clambake as the attending delegates were presented onstage by Miss Florida USA 2007 Jenna Edwards.

October: The twenty-fifth Miss Florida Teen USA Pageant presented by The City of Hollywood highlighted the month as Miss Sunset Place Teen USA Annilie Hastey captured the title in the most competitive teen pageant in Florida history. Then Miss Hastey hit the ground running as the next week was her first appearance at the South Florida Breast Cancer Initiative Charity Auction. Over $300,000 was raised as they auctioned off Tiffany Jewelry and a pink Jaguar and Land Rover. Meanwhile the same night in Hollywood our Ms. Edwards was the hit of the red carpet at the 24th annual “Evening of The Stars” benefiting The Marti Huizinga Boys and Girls Club of Hollywood.

November: What an active month for Team Florida as the month was highlighted by network television appearances (NASCAR Championship on NBC); grape stomping; charity fashion shows, bowling tournaments, poster unveilings (Super Bowl & Winterfest); The Florida Women’s Chamber of Commerce Celebration at Mar Lago; autograph sessions around the state and one Thanksgiving Parade in North Miami! The Road to Hollywood opens the 2008 Season with Miss Broward USA and is followed by pageants in Marion County, The Broward County Fair and The Daytona Beach USA Super Pageant. Faces & Places publishes its 100th edition!

December: A fantastic 2006 Pageant Year comes to a fitting end amongst the fireworks and celebrations that make up The Seminole Hard Rock Winterfest Boat Parade. Team Florida is center stage all weekend at the world’s largest boat parade and our states largest outdoor event. Live appearances on Fox; a VIP reception and a 10 mile cruise along America’s Venice make this one weekend to remember. The month also included a special holiday party at Carroll’s on Los Olas Boulevard in Ft. Lauderdale for Ms. Edwards and Miss Hastey’s two parade weekend in Hollywood and Ft. Lauderdale.

What we do in Florida is unique and it couldn’t happen without the belief that our contestants are tomorrow’s leaders and our states future. featured in a commercial for 97.9 WRMF and will be seen through out the Palm
beach area. An accomplished model our Miss Ericksen has been seen in Teen
