» Carroll’s Jewelers Holiday Party:

Another crazy holiday week for our Miss Florida USA Family as the first stop was a holiday party in honor of our very own Jenna Edwards at Carroll’s Jewelers on Las Olas Boulevard in Downtown Ft. Lauderdale. The occasion besides the holiday was to present the official Miss Florida USA Custom Designed Necklace. Dignitaries from our host county abounded as they all wanted to meet our state’s representative.

Everyone wanted to meet Ms. Edwards!

Carroll’s Jewelers has a long and storied history with Miss Florida USA. Beginning in 1984 the Moorman family has designed a one of a kind keepsake for our titleholders year. For the first time the awarding has taken place in December. This allows for a wonderful gathering and an opportunity to show off the design at this years Winterfest Boat Parade festivities. A hug thank you goes to our friends at Carroll’s Jewelers (Coral Gables & Ft. Lauderdale) and the Moorman family for their continued support and generosity!

» Official Miss Florida Teen USA Photo’s by Lasky Session

It was a very exciting day for our Miss Florida Teen USA Annilie Hastey. The official crown and banner photo session at the world renown Photo’s By Lasky studios in North Miami awaited. You combine a great team behind the camera, headed by Bob Lasky and work that in with a trained model like Miss Hastey and you know some beautiful photographs await!

Since the team was in place and the hair and makeup looked perfect they continued the day with some really fun lifestyle and fashion photos that will grace our titleholders new composite card. Look for a www.youtube.com/missfloridausa movie in the near future. Until then enjoy our photographs of the day.

The Seminole Hard Rock Winterfest Boat Parade has taken over South Florida this weekend as the largest spectator event in our state set sail! With a theme of Broadway on The Water it’s time to warm up the holiday season with the worlds largest boat parade. An estimated 3 million viewers will be on the waterway waving to our Ms. Edwards and Miss Hastey.

To start the weekend’s celebrations our team assembled at Ft. Lauderdale’s Pier 66 Hotel for live interviews on WSVN-Fox Miami. Lead by weatherperson Elita Loresca the interview was lively and entertaining! Then it was some interviews for that nights newscast and the session was complete. Look for the parade tomorrow night and if you can’t make it in person either watch the Boston and South Florida broadcasts or catch our youtube.com movie on Thursday.

Our Florida Team awaits the interview!

» 2006 Year In Review

It’s always fun to look back on the year that was and 2006 was quite the year! With so many preliminary pageants it seemed like there was one every weekend which was so much fun. It was also great to see both our Miss Florida USA and Miss Florida Teen USA have success at their respective national pageants. But mostly it was a year of new and old friends who are all apart of our very special Miss Florida USA Family.

Enjoy the review we will publish the next few weeks and happy holiday’s to all!

January – The Road to Hollywood began the first weekend of January as Miss Nature Coast USA kicked off the 2007 pageant season. Other stops that month included Tampa; Daytona Beach and Hollywood. In the meantime the Miss Florida USA team is preparing for Miss USA.

That was but a hi-light in a month of preparations in pursuit of the national title. The Road to Hollywood had tops in March were in Orlando and a return trip to Miss Orange County USA.

Lots of South Florida titleholders were in attendance

Ten titles in Central Florida were awarded in March

April – We were all on cloud nine celebrating Florida’s second straight 4th runner up finish at Miss USA in Baltimore as Ms. Duren came that close to the title. Easter was celebrated with our Miss Florida USA family at Hollywood’s Marshmallow drop and The Road to Hollywood visited the Gold Coast, and Ormond Beach

» Kudos & Did You Knows

Kudos to our Miss Orange County USA 2007 Carissa Grazel. On Monday she will be graduating Magna Cum Laude from the University of Central Florida. Then she was hired by the Orlando Magic as their new on-court emcee and is on-camera at every home game as an in-game host and part of the "Magic Live" family.  She asks all of her Central Florida friends to stop by a game and say hi! What wonderful news Carissa!

Pageant denies beauty dethroned

NEW YORK -- The organizers of the Miss USA pageant issued a statement yesterday denying reports the reigning pageant winner has been dethroned. But they acknowledged they are evaluating her "behavioral and personal issues." "Miss USA Tara Conner has not been dethroned," Paula M. Shugart, president of the Miss Universe Organization, said in a statement. The statement comes on the heels of a report that Conner, 20, had engaged in conduct unbecoming of a Miss USA. Shugart didn't say what Conner had done to prompt the evaluation. She finished fourth in the Miss Universe pageant.
