» North Miami Winter National Thanksgiving Parade:

A holiday tradition in North Miami Dade is to wake up on a Thanksgiving morning and venture to downtown North Miami to watch the first parade of the holiday season. This past Thanksgiving Thursday saw the 45th annual North Miami Winter National Parade. But this time it had a Miss Florida USA twist, as our two titleholders were the guests of honor for the first time. Joining Santa Clause on his first South Florida appearance this year were our Ms. Edwards and Miss Hastey.

With a multicultural twist that included viewing stations broadcasting in English, Spanish and Creole the cool morning provided a wonderful background to marching bands, cartoon characters and floats that paraded down 125th Street. A big thank you goes to The North Miami Chamber of Commerce who were gracious hosts.

Ms. Edwards and Miss Hastey were up early on Thanksgiving morning

This is just the beginning of parade season for our two state representatives. Next weekend Miss Hastey joins titleholders from Hollywood and The Gold Coast for the traditional Candy Cane Parade on Hollywood Beach Saturday night. Then Sunday afternoon it’s down to the South Miami Parade of Elves with our Sunset Place titleholders.

The press loved our two titleholders

The following weekend is the biggie as its time for The Seminole Hard Rock Winterfest Boat Parade. It’s a weekend long event that features a celebrity kickoff party, television appearances and finally the televised parade down Broward Counties Intra Coastal Waterways as the worlds largest boat parade captivates South Florida. Of course pictures and video of all the fun will follow. Until then enjoy the pictures from North Miami’s Winter National Parade.
