» Catching Up With Miss Florida USA

With the focus on the Teen USA division recently, let’s catch up with some of the recent appearances or our Miss Florida USA Jenna Edwards as she has been very active.

Westin Diplomat Halloween Bowling for Charity:

It was the Monday before Halloween and our friends from The Westin Diplomat Resort and Spa went bowling! In full costume well over 100 bowlers attended the second annual event with all of the proceeds going to the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation. Ms. Edwards was certainly the VIP as autographs were taken for donations. She also presented the costume awards and was the hostess of the evening. But the talk of the evening was how our Ms. Edwards bowled a turkey (three strikes in a row) in gown and banner!

Bijoux Turner Shopping Spree:

Think of the possibilities, so much jewelry…so little time! That was the challenge as Ms. Edwards and Pageant Director Mary Lou Gravitt hit the highway with the Miami International Mart as the destination. If you enjoy accessorizing then you know that Bijoux Terner brings fun to any outfit. And our team left with bags full of fun stuff. We thought you would enjoy the pictures.

» Miss Universe Not Allowed On Plane

Would You Believe -- Excess Baggage?

In one of those stories that makes you realize that sometimes even supermodels can't get everything they want, Miss Universe Zulenka Rivera -- along with a baker's dozen of the most beautiful women in the world -- was denied an airline boarding pass in India this Saturday.

Rivera... along with 13 other super-duper fashion models, an Indian-born American fashion designer, and other members of the entourage including bodyguards and stylists, were all denied passage on a Air Deccan flight scheduled to fly from Goa to Bangalore, India. The reason -- too much luggage.

Evidently, the captain of the flight also refused to fly with the excess designer suitcases. The 27 member fashion group simply had way too many suitcases and they and the airline couldn't agree on how much it would cost to take all the high-fashion couture.

“There was a confusion over luggage and the Air Deccan staff was rude to us,” stated the official complaint made by fashion designer Sanjana Jon, who had organized the tour.

“We will forward the complaint to higher-ups in Air Deccan for further action,” airport officials replied. Rivera was in Goa on a three-day tour as part of an AIDS awareness program and participated in a fashion show -- with lots and lots of clothes.

The entire entourage was forced to stay another night and were able to fly out on different airlines the next day. This time, they were allowed to bring all their luggage.

Ninety countries are represented for the unique six-year-old beauty pageant, which transforms a regular beauty contest into one that inspires people to make a stand on how to save Mother Earth.
