Miss Boca Raton USA

After a hard week of shooting it was time to have some fun and hit I-95 for a quick trip to South Palm Beach County and Boca Raton. The West Boca Community High School Theater was a great backdrop for a very competitive competition. It was also one of the last chances for the South Florida USA family to come together before the state competition.

Teal was the color of choice as Team Halavin attended the evening color coordinated! Also in attendance for her first appearance as Miss Avalon Park 2007 USA was Talia Marino who was greeted warmly into the elite sorority. It was also fun catching up with both Lia (Miss South Florida USA 2006) and Robin Anter who always add laughter to the evening. Great job to Jeanne and Norman Brander on a job well done!

It felt like half of Clewiston was in attendance

The Miss Florida Teen USA delegates

The last road trip of the year on The Road to Hollywood took place Sunday in the beautiful beachside town of Indialantic just outside of Melbourne. Forty-nine delegates competed for the six titles and our Central Florida USA family was in the house to root on the pageantry! Citrus Productions and all of their great volunteers made the afternoon feel like it was reconnecting with family for one last time this year.

Speaking of family it was great to see Katy Johnson, a personal pageant favorite as she had success in both the Miss Florida USA and Miss Florida Teen USA Pageants before she headed north to Vermont and won the state double of Miss USA and Miss America titles. She’s now a practicing attorney sharing a legal partnership with her mother who is also a lawyer. But plans are to head North to Orlando to start a firm with her soon to be husband. Best wishes Katy! It was also fun to see Miranda Webber have her crowning moment onstage as she inherited the title of Miss City Beautiful USA. Way to go Miranda!

Thanks to all of our Central Florida USA family members who were always in attendance and supportive of our wonderful directors! We look forward to bigger and better things to come in the next few months! Until then enjoy Sunday’s pictures.

» Miss Universe 2005 in The News:

Jen hawks smalls

26may06

THE last time we saw Jennifer Hawkins in her knickers, she blushed as red as the skimpy G-string she was wearing. Turning that wardrobe malfunction into the perfect fit for a celebrity endorsement, the former Miss Universe was happy to flash her undies again yesterday. As the sexy star of an upcoming campaign for the Lovable lingerie label, expect to see more of Hawkins as part her three-year, six-figure deal with the Australian brand. "That (malfunction) worried me at the time and I was really embarrassed. But it just goes to show it's those little things that make you stronger," a savvy Hawkins said yesterday. It was her smalls slip-up, before a shocked shopping canter crowd two years ago, that first caught the eye of Lovable boss Michael Gazal. "It certainly got our attention but the way Jen handled that situation is indicative of her natural personality and sense of fun. It's a good fit with our brand," he said.

Down undie beauty ... Jennifer Hawkins is just Lovable.

Like Kylie Minogue, Delta Goodrem and Elle Macpherson, Hawkins has also tried her hand at designing the lingerie, choosing colors and providing product advice from her own wardrobe. "They're very cheeky and sexy, but not too revealing," Hawkins said. The lucrative deal will no doubt impress mentor Donald Trump, who has just invited Hawkins to judge the upcoming Miss Universe pageant. The Australian beauty will fly in Trump's private jet from New York to Los Angeles for the finals, starting July 21. And demand for Hawkins doesn't stop there - after her early exit from Dancing With The Stars, she filmed a promo for a soap powder in LA and is about to announce a deal with an "international cosmetics brand". Of the upcoming lingerie billboard campaign, Hawkins said: "I've seen those massive billboards before and it's going to be so exciting and a bit weird to see myself up there."

» Kudos & Did You Knows

Kudos to Sarah Callahan, Miss Broward County Teen USA 2007 who lead the Broward County Chamber of Commerce meeting with the pledge of allegiance this past Tuesday.  Mayor Ben Graber introduced Sarah and asked her to lead the Assembly followed by a brief description of the volunteer services to the County.  Commissioner James A. Scott for District 4 was also there to congratulate her on job well done.  The meeting will be re-broadcast on Sunday, May 28, 2006 on Comcast at about 7am for those early risers in Broward. Great job Sarah!
