Ms. Navarro and Miss Hastey are heading to state!
» Miss Sunset Place USA Recap
What
a great evening it was in South Miami as the first ever Miss Sunset Place USA
and Miss Sunset Place Teen USA Pageants took place before a packed house at
The Shops at Sunset Place. The outdoor venue was a first as this open aired
contest featured palm trees and one great group of young women. Hosted by Miss
Florida USA 2004 Kristen Berset it was quite the celebration of pageantry in
South Miami Dade.
Congratulations to the four titleholders who will now represent Sunset Place in Hollywood later this year. It was also very exciting to see so many familiar and friendly faces in the audience. Amongst the directors in attendance included Angie Halavin, Barbara Ewald and Von Gretchen McAlpin (big thanks for helping out during the pageant!).

The contestants dinner was hosted by Game Works
The titleholders in attendance included Krizia Toledo (Miss Hollywood Teen USA); Rachel Rose (Miss Hollywood USA); Jennifer Olkininsky (Miss Broward County USA); Cristian Erickson (Miss Oakland Park Teen USA); Brittany Smith (Miss Citrus Teen USA) and Sara Callahan (Miss West Broward USA). It was great to see such pageant alumni as Ivis Guerra; Claudia Santiano and Lisa Godwin returning to root on the Class of 2007! Also it was marvelous to catch up with Miss Florida Teen USA 1989 Debbie Knox and Miss Florida USA 1991 Rosa Velilla De la O who all represent our pageant family so well. Here’s a little catch up for our fans.

Several South Florida titleholders were interviewed by hostess Kristen Berset
Ms. Knox is now a certified speech-language pathologist and program director for The Hearing and Speech Center of Florida. She works with those who are deaf or hard of hearing. This is amazing as she is fluent in sign language and Spanish as well! This is a former Miss Florida Teen USA who has made a living doing good things.

Ms. Velilla de la O is no stranger to pageantry as she has held various prominent titles such as Miss Hispanidad, Miss Independencia International and ultimately Miss Florida USA 1991. She graduated from Florida International University with a degree in Marketing and International Business. This lead to a very successful banking and marketing career as she was a fast rising executive at Barnett Bank. Now she is a full time mom of Rebecca, Anna-Mikayla and Miguel and part time community affairs director of the law firm de la O, Marko, Magolinick and Leyton.

After an exciting weekend in a new town for Miss Florida USA it’s up North on I-95 to Jacksonville to attend one of the original six as it’s Miss Jacksonville USA weekend! We look forward to making our first North Florida appearance and seeing our northernmost friends on Saturday. Until then enjoy the pictures!

» Kudos & Did You Knows
Kudos to our new Miss Daytona USA Ashley Panaggio attended the official Daytona 500 Post Unveiling at The Daytona International Speedway last weekend. Ms. Panaggio shared the stage with artist Charles Fazzino and racing legend Richard Petty as they unveiled the official art poster of this years NASCAR event. What a great opportunity and way to go Ashley!

PICTURE OF THE WEEK!
We as a panel have a weakness for any pictures of titleholders with sick children, so when this picture
of Miss Delaware Teen USA and this really cute kid how could we say no?
The
power of the crown to make a child’s day, this is a warm and fuzzy picture
of the week!
