MISS
OAKLAND PARK RECAP:
The
2007 Preliminary Season began in Oakland Park as Angie and Mandi Halavin
hosted nine delegates in competition for three titles. Poor Oakland Park
saw flooding only the night before as it’s recovering from Wilma just
a few weeks before. But the delegates persevered as a fun day of pageantry
awaited.
It
was great catching up with the afternoon’s hostess Jean Leifhelm as
she did an outstanding job at the podium. We have some great news regarding
our Miss Treasure Coast Teen USA as she won a 4H Club Performance Award at
nationals recently. Others in attendance included Miss Miami USA 2006 Rachel
Rose and Miss Weston USA 2006 Rebecca Linnemon. Also showing their
support were pageant directors Glenda Byrd (Gold Coast/Palm Beach
County); Barbara Ewald (Miss West Broward) and Lorraine O’Neil (Ft.
Lauderdale).

Congratulations to the staff and volunteers of Halavin Productions for the great afternoon of pageantry. Up next on The Road to Hollywood is in Weston on December 18th until then enjoy the pictures!
» QUITE A SUNDAY FOR MISS FLORIDA USA!

Ms. Duren has the spotlight to herself!
In
one of her busiest days of the year, two big events greeted our Miss Florida
USA 2006 this past Sunday. Starting off on a beautiful morning at The Westin
Diplomat Resort on Hollywood Beach our Ms. Duren complete with her mother
Alicia headed south on the Turnpike to Homestead. First stop it was The NASCAR
Championships for a VIP Autograph appearance. A huge line of fans awaited the
first star of the day. It was pictures and autographs for her legion of fans.
But that was only the beginning.
After
a full two-hour appearance it was off to the VIP tent to enjoy the star
treatment. Amongst those who gravitated toward our shinning stat include Scott
, the lead singer of Creed and Nick Lachay. It’s good to be the queen! But
yet the best part of the afternoon was the opportunity to give the invocation
to the drivers and the NBC audience. Over 80,000 cheered their approval as
this began the biggest afternoon in auto racing.
Miss Florida America Mari Wilensky hits the runway
After a quick dash back to Hollywood Beach it was south once again to Dadeland Mall for this years Simon Malls Evening of Giving Fashion Show. The world famous mall opened up late into the evening for the revelers to shop with all procedes going to The Simon Charity Fund. The highlight of the evening was the celebrity fashion show. Our Ms. Duren lit up the catwalk as the media hero’s of South Florida were in fine fashions. This was truly a special evening as well over half a million dollars was raised during the evening. Enjoy the pictures.

» MODEL
RACER
Recording
artist, calendar diva and former Spanish-language TV personality Sissi
may be adding another title -- race car driver -- after discovering stock cars
this month. ''I
really love it,'' said the Cuban-born model, who says her ardor for the sport
dates all the way back to last week when she drove a race car around the
Homestead track at more than 100 mph. ''That was the first time I drove a
stick shift,'' she said. ``I didn't think I would be able to do it.''
Sissi, who will co-host Fox Sports' televised Latin American award show in January and will appear in the upcoming film Absolute Tangerine, spent an hour signing autographs along Homestead's pit road Sunday. She followed Miss Florida USA Cristen Duren, who delivered the pre-race invocation.

Sure Sissi looks good...
but can she handle the turns of NASCAR?
