The Week in Miss Florida USA:
Miss Space Coast USA Seminar Day

Pageant directors Rachel and Mary Lou lead the seminar.
The pageant weekend started this past Saturday in Melbourne’s Historic District at The Henegar Performing Arts Center for our first ever Miss Space Coast USA Seminar Day. Five attendees enjoyed an afternoon of pageantry information as Pageant Directors Mary Lou Gravitt and Rachel Uziel led the girls in reviews of gowns, swimsuits and interviews. Of course we had pictures so enjoy!

Saturday was all about pageant insight as the ladies were very attentive.

Miss Gold Coast USA
After a quick trip down the turnpike it was time to join Glenda Byrd and her staff of volunteers for the first ever Miss Gold Coast USA Pageants. Royal Palm Beach is such a vibrant new community and served as the perfect host for this new addition to the Miss Florida USA family. It was great to see so many titleholders and directors in attendance. Miss Citrus Teen USA Anile Hasty and her mother; Miss South Florida USA Lia Anter in attendance with her mother; Miss Palm Beach County USA Shilah Goodwin and Miss Palm Beach County Teen USA Amber Garrod; as well as alumni Lau Ren Merolla.

Showing support from other directors in our system to this pageant included the production teams from Halavin Productions; West Broward USA and Palm Beach County USA in attendance to support the newest edition to the Miss Florida USA family in Glenda Byrd and Gold Coast Productions. Also it was great to see Miss Florida Co-ed Director Patty Hawkins and Co-ed Choreographer April Coggins travel all the way to very West Palm Beach to volunteer. Thank you for your support of this great opportunity for young women of the region.

Also in attendance was Miss Palm Beach MAO director Barbara Jamison, being a proud mother of son Michael was a very capable host and outstanding vocalist who sang to the finalists during the evening. Miss Florida USA alumni (t15 ‘85/’86) Lorraine Brennan was an equally impressive hostess. Ms. Brennan is practicing corporate law and is a partner in her firm. She also has some exciting new ventures that we will report on in the following weeks. Doing an outstanding job of public relations for the pageant was Miss Florida USA alumni Stephanie Sylvestre who is now a valuable member of the Gold Coast Production team. Great job to the Byrd family and all the volunteers on this very successful first venture into western Palm Beach County!
Miss Pembroke Pines USA Updates:
On March 12 & 13 the City of Pembroke Pines had their Art Festival and our lovely Miss Pembroke Pines Teen, Christian Ericksen, and Miss Pembroke Pines, Claudia Santiano attended to promote the Pageant and the Kiwanis effort to raise funds for the children in our community. The young ladies helped raise over a $1000.00 dollars in the food booth (hamburgers & popcorn) and $80.00 in cash donations. You'd have had to be there to enjoy the beautiful day and beautiful art. I have attached a picture from the Arts Festival.

The next stop was a lunch with the Jewish War Veterans Organization and the Ladies Auxiliary, to honor the National Commander Louis Abramson. The Mayor, Frank Ortis asked our young ladies to represent the City in honoring the National Commander Louis Abramson and present the Pembroke Pines City Proclamation to Commander Abramson. The lunch was held at the Royal Fiesta at Cove Center in Deerfield Beach on 4/3/05.
Our lovely Pembroke Pines queens were in attendance at the going away for Miss Florida USA Melissa Witek. They had a wonderful time. Check out the picture of Melissa, Christian and Claudia.
