Champion Equestrian Alumni:

A congratulations is in order. Miss Florida Teen USA alumni Jean Leifhelm’s (FTUSA ’05) 4-H Horse Judging Team won the state 4-H Horse Judging Contest this past April thus earning the right to represent Florida at the Eastern National Horse Roundup in Louisville Kentucky. This past weekend Ms. Leifhelm’s team took on 23 of the most prestigious teams in the United States our team and finished 5th in the nation. Out of 93 contestants, Ms. Leifhelm had quite the weekend with such placements as 3rd Highest Individual, 2nd Highest in Performance, and 4th highest in Conformation. Wow! And thanks for the pictures!

Miss Florida USA Update:

With her leading a crazy schedule and balancing a company we thought we would catch you up with the happenings of OUR Miss Florida USA Melissa Witek. First of all congratulations on becoming the official spokesperson for the "Women's Build” for The South Brevard Habitat for Humanity! These are homes being built exclusively by women contractors as a partnership with the recipient families. Ms. Witek is truly taking a leadership role in her state. We are very proud.

So much for the gushing! Ms. Witek just co hosted the televised Miss Tallahassee USA Pageant this past weekend and will be co-emceeing the Seminole County USA pageant this Sunday in Maitland. Then it’s The March of Dimes Woman of Achievement Awards Gala this Thursday in Cocoa Beach as she is nominated for this prestigious award. (good luck!)

Her hectic schedule continues as she will then co-host The Broward Outreach Centers banquet with all proceeds going to the homeless assistance initiative for Broward County. Then it’s down to the southernmost part of our state as she will read the invocation prior to the NASCAR Championship’s next Sunday at the Homestead Speedway.

Then it’s back to Hollywood on Monday as Ms. Witek hosts this year’s Miss Florida USA Behind The Scenes Video from this past state pageant.  Seems like Ms. Witek is getting quite a lot of camera time in her preparations of Miss USA this April. Look for the DVD to be making it’s debut mid December. More appearances await as it only starting to get busy!

Passings

Our sympathies go to Lauren Merola (2nd r/u FLUSA ’03) upon the passing of her father this past week. A beautiful seaside service was held this past Wednesday on Hollywood Beach. Your family will be in the hearts of all of your Miss Florida USA friends.
