Miss Palm Beach USA Contestants Go To The Dogs!

Always willing to lend a hand to every good cause, our Miss Florida USA family (Palm Beach relatives!) put their best foot forward at The Palm Beach Kennel Club to help promote Greyhound Adoption Month. Three of the aspiring Miss Palm Beach USA’s spent their Saturday afternoon with the Greyhounds promoting adoption of these beautiful athletes. Look for an upcoming calendar with Miss Palm Beach USA delegates to raise funds for adoption awareness. Thanks to pageant director Linda DiGiacomo we have pictures!

Meet Miss Panhandle USA & Miss Panhandle Teen USA* 2006

We thought you might like to know a little more about our newest titleholders crowned Saturday night in Chipley.

Brook Francis, a 24-year-old Florida State University graduate student, is our new Miss Florida Panhandle USA. “Florida has so much to offer, from metropolitan sky rises to lush, rolling hills,” Brook says, “but I most appreciate the natural preservation in the great Panhandle.” Brook will be the official spokeswoman for the Panhandle chapter of the American Red Cross, and looks forward to traveling throughout Northwest Florida, assisting with fundraising, raising awareness, volunteer recruitment and other special events.

Sixteen-year-old Ft. Walton Beach High School Student Tricia Forbes was crowned Brook’s “little sister queen” Miss Florida Panhandle Teen USA®. Tricia has a 4.6 grade point average and plans to major in broadcast journalism.  A major sports fan, Tricia says that she’d love to “work for ESPN as a sideline correspondent or for a major news network.” Living in Destin, Tricia has experienced the damage done by Hurricane Ivan personally, and is looking forward to working alongside Brook to assist the Red Cross efforts across the Panhandle.

Former Miss USA & Blink 182 Rocker Marry:

This beauty queen was engaged last year in Disneyland's Haunted Mansion, so it made perfect sense that Blink-182 drummer Travis Barker and former Miss USA Shanna Moakler would marry in high gothic style on Halloween Eve, PEOPLE reports.

The two conjured a red-and-black wonderland inspired by their favorite film, Tim Burton's The Nightmare Before Christmas, at Santa Barbara's Bacara Resort & Spa. Beneath an incense-scented floral arch, they exchanged roses and teary vows before 250 guests. For Moakler, 29, the mix of wacky and winsome proved a potent concoction. "Even though it was different and wild," she says, "it was really upscale and romantic." Ok…..

Kudos & Did You Knows

Miss Florida USA 2001 Julie Donaldson

courtside reporting on The Miami Heat.

With basketball season beginning look for a lot of Miss Florida USA 2001 Julie Donaldson as she hosts the Miami Heat pre-game show. Ms. Donaldson also host the Fox Sports “Softball 360” and “Miccousuki Sports Wrap”. Seems like her goal of being a famous sports reporter is coming true!……While watching WPLG Miami’s “Sports Jam Live” Miss Florida USA 2005 Miss Photogenic Ana Norriega was one of the Cheerleaders of The Week on the broadcast……Former Miss Florida Teen USA 1996 and Miss Florida USA finalist (4th ru ‘05/t-15 ’04) Kelly Gaudet was selected as a Miami Heat dancer. Looks

like many reasons for The Miss Florida USA family to be Miami Heat fans!

Miss Florida Teen USA Update

While in Chipley I had the chance to catch up with our Miss Florida Teen USA 2005 Victoria Ratliff who was a special guest of the pageant. Victoria looks fantastic and is excited about the year ahead of her. This was a great chance to sit down and get to know the Ratliff family and plot out our strategy for Miss Teen USA! Up first will be acting lessons with Marc Durso and Act True as Victoria is a very talented vocalist as well as actress.

Her performance background was very apparent as she did a great job in an impromptu interview during the Panhandle Pageants. Look for big things from this young lady this year! As to be expected we had several photo opportunities with Ms. Ratliff and her friends Miss Emerald Coast Teen USA 2005 Kimberly Wright and Miss Panhandle Teen USA 2005 Noelle Stevens, enjoy the pictures!
