Welcome to another edition of YOUR Miss Florida USA & Miss Florida Teen USA Magazine. YOUR information source for everything pageantry in the Sunshine State. After a week away from blogging it’s full speed ahead towards the most exciting state pageant ever! Lot’s of fun new changes as we celebrate 30 years of broadcast and our 60^th ever titleholder. It all begins with our Domino’s Pizza Party this Friday as we count down to the live broadcast on July 10^th. The State Championship of Pageantry is just around the corner.

We took a week off but the World of Pageantry sure didn’t as we report on the championships of Canada, Tibet, Greece and Australia. In Florida USA News we have all the information on our two soiree weekend. Then on Friday our Faces & Places catches us up with our busy titleholders. Our Miss Florida USA Channel Movie of the Week has a triple feature to kick off the new viewing season. » Elena Semikina Crowned Miss Universe Canada 2010

Elena Semikina was crowned Miss Universe Canada 2010 at the Finale that has just finished. Elena Semikina will represent Canada in Miss Universe 2010 Pageant in Las Vegas starting on 23 August.

Ms. Semikina of Toronto, Ontario is 26 year old and stands 1.86 m. Semikina, who already joined the same pageant in 2008 is a student of York University, taking up Marketing and Finance and currently enrolled in oratory, neuro-linguistic programming, acting and dance classes.

» Miss Tibet 2010

The new Miss Tibet 2010 has been crowned despite the beauty pageant having been panned by critics as “un-Tibetan.” In a glittering ceremony in Dharamsala, India, Tenzin Norzom, 23, was chosen the winner among four other young hopefuls. Initially there were 15 contestants, but most withdrew due to pressure from family and friends who opposed the contest.

Controversy has surrounded the pageant since it began in 2002. Critics say it promotes Western exhibitionism and violates Tibetan culture, which values modesty. The Tibetan government-in-exile has also spoken out against it, saying the contest is alien to the country’s tradition.

However, thousands of people attended the crowning at Dharamsala’s Tibetan Institute of Performing Arts on June 4. “I will use the title to promote the Tibetan cause in whatever way I can,” Norzom told reporters after she was crowned. “My dream has been fulfilled. I will try to be a role model for the younger generation and will encourage other Tibetan girls to participate in such contests to tell the world that we don't lack confidence.”

» Star Hellas / Miss Hellas 2010

ATHENS - June 14th - The annual 2010 Star Hellas / Miss Hellas / Miss Young organized by Antenna TV took place on Wednesday, with the 25 beauty contestants for the title. A beauty queen from Athens, Anna Prelević was crowned Star Hellas 2010. The 20 year old Star Hellas 2010 with 1.80 m stand represent Greece at the upcoming Miss Universe 2010 beauty pageant in Las Vegas, August 23rd.

Chosen as the 1st runner-up Star Hellas 2010 is 23-year old Maria Tsagarakis, who will participate at the Miss International 2010 beauty contest in Chengdu, China, in October.
While Mando Gasteratou crowned as Miss Hellas 2010. The 22 year old model and 1.76 m will represent Greece at the Miss World 2010 beauty pageant next December.

And the 1st runner-up to Miss Hellas is Eleonora Bretz, who will compete in the Miss Earth 2010 beauty contest to be held in Nha Trang, Vietnam, December 4. For Miss Young 2010 Chosen as Melina Syria.

AUSTRALIA'S newest Miss Universe Jesinta Campbell admitted she thought she had blown her chances after stumbling over her final question from the judges. The 18-year-old model, who lives in Sydney but was raised on the Gold Coast, was asked what more could be done to raise awareness of sun damage during an interview with the top five contestants. Ms Campbell struggled to find the right words when talking about sunscreen and almost broke down in tears, fearing her chance at the crown was gone. But she recovered to finish her answer- that Australians should always wear plenty of sun cream and drink water- and her composure won her votes from the judges, including Seven presenter Kylie Gillies. "I honestly thought I'd come in fifth after that happened," she said.

"All the excitement from the past few days caught up with me and I had a mental blank.”This is a huge shock [to win] and I'm not going to make that mistake again." The former school captain, who volunteers with a children's charity, beat West Australian beauty Renae Wauhop for the title. She will now head to Las Vegas in August with the hope of becoming the first Australian since Jennifer Hawkins in 2004 to claim the ultimate prize. "I am super determined to bring home the crown," she said. "This is the biggest honor...I will get to represent my beautiful country overseas so I just feel so blessed."

» Domino’s Miss Florida USA Pizza Party!

Hello All Miss Florida USA Big Sisters, Medium Sisters and Little Sisters! With only a few weeks to go before state we feel the need to throw a special event with all of our titleholders – Our Miss Florida USA; Miss Florida Teen USA and Miss Florida USA Little Sisters. So we are proud to announce our first ever Miss Florida USA Domino’s Pizza Party! Friday June 25^th from 6:30pm to 8:30pm on the soundstages of The Hollywood Production Center as we have one last great night of friendship and pageantry before our State Pageant.

The dress is cute and casual but crowns and sashes are a must! We will also have our production crew out in full force as this will be a segment and YouTube video for the broadcast. Hello Little Sisters, Mommies and Directors, For those of you that I have not had the pleasure of meeting, my name is Janet Llerena and I am one of the Co-Chairs for the Florida USA Little Sister committee. Myself, along with Rena Arellano (Co-Chair) and the Tel-Air family are looking forward to this year's Miss Florida USA pageant weekend

We are so excited to announce our Miss Florida USA Little Sister Pretty in Pink brunch on July 10^th at the Westin Diplomat Resort and Spa. We will begin at 10:30 am in the Crystal Room which is located in the main lobby. The cost for this event is as follows:

Little Sisters 12 & over - $38.00

Little Sisters 11 & under - $ 19.00
