Welcome to another edition of YOUR Miss Florida USA & Miss Florida Teen USA Magazine. YOUR information source for everything pageantry in the Sunshine State. Well it’s on! Our state championship of pageantry swings into full effect with our Seminar and Pretape Weekend. Our fifty state finalists will tape their television openings and model prizes from the 2010 Collection. We then get all of our finalists together under one roof this Saturday with our mandatory PageantDiva.com Miss Florida USA Seminar Day. Photos and videos will be posted all weekend so keep near that computer if you can’t join us!

» Miss Tibet 2009

20-year-old Tenzin Choezom from Dharamsala,which serves as a base for Tibet's government in exile in north India, wept tears of joy after being crowned Miss Tibet 2009 at the beauty pageant’s grand finale night here this evening.

The Chairman of the Spice India Splendour Dr BK Modi crowned Choezom as the new Miss Tibet and presented a scholarship cheque of 100,000 rupees. A panel of four judges elected the new winner, making Choezom the second contestant from Dharamsala to win the Miss Tibet title since it was first started in 2002. In 2007, a 21-year-old Tenzin Dolma became the first winner from Dharamsala.

“The first thing I did was to cry. I couldn’t control myself,” elated Choezom told Phayul.com after winning the title.“Being a Miss Tibet for me is like holding an ambassadorial post to represent Tibetan people, and especially Tibetan woman,”

» Miss Namibia 2009

HAPPIE Ntelamo was awarded the title of Miss Namibia 2009. The striking, 1,85-metre-tall law student was crowned Miss Namibia 2009 at the annual pageant that took place on Saturday at the Windhoek Country Club. Supporting her during the year of her reign will be 23-year-old Susan van Zyl as Second Princess and 22-year-old Tanja Schemmer as First Princess.

Former Miss Namibia and Miss Universe Michelle McLean hosted the pageant, which included performances by South African Idols Season 5 joint winner Jason Hartman and local artists Roger and Tequila. The Top 10 modeled a range of red cocktail dresses by local designers Jaques Jansen van Vuuren, Chakira Claasen, Patricia Mtambalika, Maria Caley and Maiya-Liisa Nautende.

» SEMINAR WEEKEND: Schedule Announced

With some new twists we are pleased to announce our ninth annual PageantDiva.com Miss Florida USA Seminar Day. Held at The Hollywood Production Center this afternoon of information is dedicated to pageantry in our unique style. We unveil our pageant week schedule and present special guests to guide informative sessions geared towards our Class of 2010.

This year we will have split sessions that will allow a wider range of information for both our rookies and veterans. The afternoon will be highlighted by a presentation from our Miss Florida USA 2009 Anastagia Pierre. Other featured speakers include LauRen Merola, Miss Pennsylvania USA 2008 and Miss Florida USA alumni; Brooke Eneas, fitness expert and Miss Florida USA alumni; Robin Fleming, official gown provider of Miss Florida USA and La Casa Hermosa proprietor; and Jules Meyer, owner-PagantReady and leading American Cancer Society Volunteer. The fun begins promptly at 2:30pm and will run until 5:30pm. Pictures will be posted promptly afterwards for our fans who couldn’t attend our first weekend of fun!

The Miss USA delegates will compete in the 2011 Miss Florida USA as the first official entries while the Miss Teen USA delegates will compete for tickets to this Octobers Miss Florida Teen USA Pageant tentatively scheduled for Hollywood.

Show Off That Bra, Balenciaga Style

Underwear as outerwear is in, that's for sure—and thanks to Balenciaga the iffy trend just got a little classier. When I saw these pretty lace pieces positioned under the romantic, refined garments in the Fall 09 collection I immediately thought of something quite opposite: American Apparel. That smutty store that we can't seem to get enough of already has a pretty good selection of bandeau tops in stock, and i'm sure they'll put out a sheer number soon to pay homage to their Parisian admirers.

I love the idea of placing the bra under a tailored blazer (with the buttons fastened) or have it peek out of a silky wrap dress, similar to the above Balenciaga looks. There are a million ways to do it, so pick up an AA bandeau asap and try to keep it classy.
