Dear Miss Florida USA Family:

Welcome to another edition of YOUR Miss Florida USA & Miss Florida Teen USA Magazine YOUR information source for everything pageantry in the Sunshine State. We are reporting this week from Palm Springs and Miss Teen USA. It is so exciting as tonight (Thursday) the presentation show will have all fifty-one delegates onstage. Then next Tuesday night it narrows down to 15 and then that one Miss Teen USA! Will it be Florida? Keep up with all of the pageant action as we have daily updates through the competition. This week we head to Hungry for our World Pageant News. In news more local this week it’s Miss Hispanidad on Sunday, then comes Miss Coral Gables/Coconut Grove Teen USA and finally Miss Sunshine USA & Teen USA to complete a very hot August pageant wise. Faces & Places goes to the old ball game with Miss Florida USA Jenna Edwards. Gen Art this week features another unique and cool musical artist from overseas so you can say you heard him first! All the pageant news that fits to print and now video updated on Thursdays and Fridays only at YOUR Miss Florida USA Ezine, the only Ezine in the pageant world!

» Sio Miss Balaton Pageant

Swimsuit competition in 20 degree weather!

Definitely not for our Florida ladies!

Despite the weekend's Baltic temperatures, a new champion was crowned at this year's Sió Miss Balaton pageant in Siófok, Hungry Saturday evening. Linda Zimány, a former Britney Spears lookalike (as you can see from the picture), took the crown ahead of Pestiside's favorite Anett Maximovics. Despite temperatures hovering in the teen’s and outdoors these pageant contestants make it look warm!

Or that the event really was superbly well organized and that the girls absolutely were "intelligent as well as pretty" but probably that Hungary's two top news portals were very excited over this evening in pageantry. In any case, the pictures look great, so we can't wait for more of the same next year.

» Miss Hispanidad USA This Sunday!

The 29^th edition of Miss Hispanidad is this Sunday, August 13^th at 2:00 PM at the Gusman Center for the Performing Arts, 174 East Flagler Street, Miami. This years winner will be the second delegate into next years Miss Florida USA Pageant.

The loveliest Hispanic young ladies, between the ages of 16 and 25, participate in this annual pageant featuring interviews (in Spanish) swimwear and evening gown competition. Also look for international performers and so many fun extras that makes this an event not to miss in Miami. Good luck to all of the thirty two delegates in pursuit of the title. Look for pictures on Monday!

» Miss Coral Gables/Coconut Grove Teen USA August 20^th

The last Miss Florida Teen USA Qualifier in South Florida is the dual pageant of Miss Coral Gables Teen USA and Miss Coconut Grove Teen USA. The Citrus Productions Pageant will take place Sunday afternoon August 20^th at The Airport Hilton in Miami Dade County. This summer pageant will be a blast! The pageant will start at 1pm on Saturday. Opening number~ TEENS will be white pants and any pastel colored top. *Miss will be white pants and any black top.

This is where you will have a prepared opening statement 45 seconds 1/3 of your score. You will be introduced on-stage and then say your Introduction. This can consist of any information about yourself.

Example ~Good afternoon, I am a student at FSU studying Education. My plans upon graduation are to teach English at a local high school in my home town of Tampa. It has always been my dream to work with the youth since the 8th grade when I started volunteering at the after school programs. The most interesting thing about myself is that I can wiggle my ears whole rolling my tongue. I am contestants #5 Susan Thompson

** Now this of course is an example, but talk about your self and the key points you want the judges to know about you. AS above you know that this young lady is into education, kids and she is funny. Three great key points.

Miss you MUST wear a two-piece swimsuit solid color a must!
*Rehearsal starting at 8:00am to 11:00pm
Pageant starts at 1pm
We will take the first 20 applications for Teen and 20 for Miss.

Friday night workshop to learn some extra tips. At 6pm we will have a workshop for anyone learn some pageant tips. For reservation please call 941-371-0625.
Teen winner will compete this October for Miss Florida Teen USA!!
Miss winner will compete next July.
Great title for appearances!! Entry fee is $350.00

The French Again? - With Jehro

It's a gorgeous day outside and since it's Monday morning, it's time to start daydreaming about weekend plans to not-too far off places. With three and a half days to go, we need a little mood music. Bring out the Jehro.

The Frenchman Jehro (pronounced ZHE-ro) moved to London at the age of 20 and immersed himself in Jamaican and Spanish influences, which come through in his light and beachy arrangements. On Jehro's self-titled American debut, the lyrical genius brings out the heady sounds of reggae and Cuban folk in an acoustic delight. It's total relaxation music with a touch of eroticsm by way of Jehro's silky voice and higher pitch that is smoother than silk. The man taps into emotion without effort. Hell, he's French after all. On "I Want Love" we could feel his ache of loneliness right in the gut. Meanwhile, on his take on Stevie Wonder's '70s reggae rocker "Master Blaster," we lost our breath away from all that moving and shaking we couldn't stop doing. While Jehro sings mainly in English, he does do a song or two to Spanish, which will have you longing for far flung locales and mojitos.

Tell the truth, we've got no getaway plans. You see... we've been chained to our desk because our boss is a very, bad, bad man. Nonetheless, at least Jehro's around to bring the vibes of the islands indoors.
