The Miss Florida USA & Miss Florida Teen USA

 Magazine of April 30, 2009

Dear Miss Florida USA Family:

Welcome to another edition of YOUR Miss Florida USA & Miss Florida Teen USA Magazine. YOUR information source for everything pageantry in the Sunshine State. What a great weekend of pageantry we had as fifteen (15) titleholders were given tickets to Hollywood. We stretched the state from Miami to Pensacola as it was a true “Super Weekend” for Miss Florida USA. A big congratulation’s goes to all who either won a title or competed valiantly. Look for reports to be updated on our preliminary page as pictures are still arriving to the home office.

In a rather light World Pageant News report we head to New Zealand for a Kiwi slanted edition. Then in Florida USA News we have results and updates on our last three pageants remaining this season. Our GenArt this week features the latest in fashion news while Friday’s Faces & Places has reports from our Super Pageant Weekend and Expo Alfresco. We have a twin feature at our www.YouTube.com/MissFloridaUSA Movie of the Week. All the (pageant) news that fits to print on Thursdays and Fridays only at YOUR Miss Florida USA Ezine, the only Ezine in the pageant world!

PAGEANT NEWS FROM AROUND THE WORLD

» Miss Universe New Zealand 2009

Aucklander Katie Taylor, 22, sponsored by Southern First National of Manurewa, won Miss Universe New Zealand 2009 at the Levin Events’ Centre on Saturday. Miss Taylor is a construction project manager and a qualified pilot. She begins work today back in Auckland, replacing her ball gown and tiara with a reflective jacket and hard hat, in the lead-up to Miss Universe 2009 on August 23 at Paradise Island, the Bahamas.

This was her second attempt at the national title, having placed in the top five in 2007. She says, ‘I have never won anything before, but I gave it everything I had.

‘I’m looking forward to working on getting ready for the finals in the Bahamas, and to doing my country proud.’ Crowd favorite, 18-year-old Priyani Puketapu, Miss Horowhenua, was judged first runner-up. Anthea Stembridge, 19, sponsored by Ultimate Transport Solutions, was second runner-up.

Miss Universe New Zealand pageant director Val Lott says she is ‘delighted’ by the judges’ choices for the top three places. The judges were impressed by Miss Taylor’s natural conversation in her interview, which was held privately at the Horowhenua District Council Buildings on April 24. She also wowed the panel of five judges with her performance on the night, in particular in the eveningwear segment.

» Job Opportunity! Looking for Titleholders

Recently we were made aware of great employment opportunities for our titleholders. In the “new economy” everyone is looking for ways to improve their income and here is a great chance to start a very rewarding and financially lucrative career!

IST Management Services, Inc. is the fastest growing, privately held Management Company in the U.S. The company provides total office solutions including the management of copy, mail, imaging, supply, records, reception, desktop publishing, shipping & receiving and other administrative services for companies. And they have had great success matching titleholders from around the country with employers.

If this sounds of interest to you, kindly respond via email to telair@aol.com or via phone to (954) 924-4949. I would be happy to set up an appointment with our IST friends. Just another way we try to help our Miss Florida USA Family!

Hot Child in the City

The weather in New York this weekend was not conducive to hauling summer clothes out from wherever they’ve been living for the past nine months. But it was 90 degrees, and jeans just were not going to fly. So we rolled up our sleeves and fought through our tiny closets. Contrary to popular belief, hipsters actually like to show off their pasty white skin whenever they can.

Fashionistas have been planning their warm weather outfits since S/S 09 hit the runway last fall, so the past two days were ripe with enviable street style. We saw lots of cut off jean shorts, wooden platform heels and oversized tank tops (I also saw Agyness Deyn with a bandana on her head dining at Marlow and Sons, but that’s neither here nor there.). Here are a few of our favorite summer styles captured on the web this week.
