» HURRICANE KATRINA DISASTER RELIEF EFFORTS UNDERWAY AT THREE SOUTH FLORIDA SIMON MALLS

Former Miss Florida USA Title Holders will be Collecting Donations for the Red Cross’s Hurricane Disaster Fund at Dadeland Mall, Miami International Mall and The Shops at Sunset Place Every Saturday and Sunday Throughout the Month of September

[MIAMI, FL], September XX, 2005 – In response to the tremendous destruction from Hurricane Katrina, a relief effort has been undertaken by the three South Florida Simon Malls: Dadeland Mall, Miami International Mall and The Shops at Sunset Place, in cooperation with The Miss Florida USA Pageant and The Red Cross, to support emergency assistance efforts associated with the effects of the devastating storm. All donations raised by the alliance will benefit the Red Cross’s Hurricane Disaster Fund, which goes to relieve the needs of individuals and families impacted by Hurricane Katrina.

Former Miss Florida USA pageant title holders will be collecting donations for the Red Cross’s Hurricane Disaster Fund every Saturday and Sunday from 12:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., beginning this Saturday, September 10^th and throughout the month of September at the three malls. At Dadeland Mall and Miami International Mall they will be collecting donations at center court and at The Shops at Sunset Place they will be collecting donations at the mall entrance between Dan Marinos and Z Gallerie. They will be accepting cash and check donations only. For more information on the Red Cross visit www.redcross.org.

“Through this effort we want to create an opportunity for members of our community to join together to provide as much support as possible to individuals and families affected by this unprecedented disaster,” said Anneliese Pandiella, Area Director of Mall Marketing for Simon Property Group.

The season started with qualifiers from the past year. All of each pageants top15 qualify along with Miss Amity & Miss Photogenic. Each preliminary pageant qualifies delegates as “at large” status with their finalist, amity, photogenic and peoples choice awards.

The new Miss Montana USA 2006 is Jill McLain, 21, of Havre (right). The first runner up was Nicole Dowson; second runner up was Rachelle Benson; third runner up was Emily Marie; and fourth runner up was Stephanie Trudeau.

Miss Montana Teen USA 2006 is Katie Blair, 17, of Billings (left). The first runner up was Ashley Pederson; second runner up was Kayleen Pings; third runner up was Courtney LeBlanc; and fourth runner up was Chelsea Leudtke.
