» Miss Florida Teen USA 2006 Finals:

The Road To Hollywood concluded as Sunday was the day to choose the new Miss Florida Teen USA. Bailey Concert Hall was again the host as once again the audience was very supportive of their favorite contestants. Miss Florida USA 2006 Cristin Duren greeted the audience to begin the afternoon as she served as the afternoon’s announcer who kept the audience informed of the television tapings going on that afternoon.

Host Luis Aguirre was joined for the telecast by Kristen Beall who handled the co-hosting duties for the afternoon. With the delegates going to the riser positions the show began with a loud roar of approval. Up first were the special awards for the afternoon beginning with The PageantDiva.com Miss Amity Award which was presented to Miss Treasure Coast Teen USA Jean Leifhelm. Then The Pageant Magazine Photogenic Award went to Miss Panhandle Teen USA Tricia Forbes. Miss Florida Teen USA 2005 Victoria Ratliff presented the awards as they then returned to the stack for the announcement of the top 10.

In no particular order this years semi-finalists were Jennifer Wooten (new), Miss Winter Park Teen USA, Tricia Forbes (new), Miss Panhandle Teen USA; Stephanie Pantin0 (new), Miss Central Florida Teen USA; Heather Mowry (2ru 05), Miss Ft. Myers Teen USA; Kendra Waller (05), Miss Miami Teen USA; Stephanie Camp, Miss West Coast Teen USA (T 15 05), Tess Wilensky (new), Miss Clearwater Teen USA (and sister of Mari Wilensky the reigning Miss Florida America!), Lauren Le Compte, Miss Orlando Teen USA (2ru 04, T15 05), Stephanie Sickels, Miss Polk County Teen USA (05), and rounding out the Top 10 was Sarah Callahan (new), Miss West Broward Teen USA.

Then the scores were erased and the competition began again with an onstage version of the interview competition. Mr. Aguirre was assigned the task of interviewing these outstanding representatives of the Sunshine States teenagers. The question were submitted by the delegates themselves and showed the contestants abilities to speak under pressure. All of the delegates did an outstanding job.

The final two phases of competition featured the delegates in official swimwear from www.RitchiesSwimwear.com and then everyone’s favorite the evening gown competition that featured gowns of their own choosing. After the judges submitted their final ballot’s the finalists were announced. Once again in no particular order the judges selected: Jennifer Wooten; Stephanie Pantino; Heather Mowrey; Tricia Forbes and Kendra Waller.

Before the final results were announced it was time to observe pageant tradition and honor reigning queen Victoria Ratliff as she took her ceremonial final walk and received the standing ovation of the audience as they acknowledged that this was one special Miss Florida Teen USA. Then it was time to announce the results:

4^th Runner Up is Kendra Waller

3^rd Runner Up is Stephanie Pantino

2^nd Runner Up is Heather Mowry

1^st Runner Up is Tricia Forbes

The New Miss Florida Teen USA is Jennifer Wooten!

Congratulations to Miss Wooten on becoming the 24^th Miss Florida Teen USA. Also a congratulation’s goes to the hard working staff and volunteers of Tel-Air, The Hollywood Beach Holiday Inn and Bailey Concert Hall for everything they did to make this our best Miss Florida Teen USA ever. Also a special thank you goes to The City of Hollywood for making all of our Miss Florida USA family feel at home.

» MISS FLORIDA USA’S COMMITTED TO KATRINA TELETHON:

Up next in our efforts to help those devastated by Hurricane Katrina is our “Hollywood Helps Katrina’s Kids” telethon to be held October 27^th and televised live 7:00 to 9:00pm throughout Broward County on BECON TV, the PBS station of Broward County. Big name stars will join our Miss Florida USA tandem of Cristin Duren and Kristen Berset along with Luis Aguirre. Also look for our newly crowned Miss Florida Teen USA Jennifer Wooten to also assist on the live television event.

We need volunteers to help with everything from answering the phones and receiving pledges to being greeters of the celebrity VIP’s and sponsors. We are having big name stars as the event is being tied into the tradition Miss Florida USA appearance at The Marti Huizinga Boy’s & Girls Club of Hollywood. The event takes place on Hollywood Beach at the brand new Marriott Hollywood Beach just a few miles north of our two sponsor hotels. All funds raised will go to The Hollywood Emergency Fund and earmarked for The Boys & Girls Club of New Orleans, The Police Athletic League (PAL) of New Orleans and The New Orleans YMCA. This is going to be a huge night with a very large donation, to this date over $80,000.00 has already been sponsored. Just another way to promote our “Crowns for A Cause” initiative as The Miss Florida USA Family really cares!

It was a Homecoming Celebration in the Buckeye State of Ohio, as well as the crowning of a new Miss Ohio Teen USA for 2006. Held for the 4th year on the grounds of Shawnee State University at the Vern Riffe Center for the Performing Arts and Theater in Portsmouth, 84 of the states brightest and well deserving Teens competed for the right to represent the state at Miss Teen USA next summer. The eventual winner will try to be the first state with back to back national winners.

The homecoming was for the reigning Miss Teen USA 2005, Allie LaForce of Vermilion, Ohio. She is the state's first national Teen USA winner. The entire state and the local host city of Portsmouth pulled out all the stops for Allie's homecoming. Allie was given the key to the city of Portsmouth during a special celebration on the courthouse grounds, and given the proclamation of September 29 as "Allie LaForce Day."

On one of many appearances in Portsmouth, she was given a tour around the Pepsi Corporation, and the company had special one of a kind laniers made for Allie and all the Ohio Teen delegates that read "Allie does the Dew!" Mountain Dew is one of Allie's favorite soft drinks. Allie will be making a trip all across the state of Ohio during her homecoming celebration before returning to New York and her other home at Trump Towers.

The city of Portmouth however was lined with signs welcoming the contestants and Allie, and the real work began to try and find a special young lady to fill some very big shoes.

After an astounding opening production number, choreographed by Kent Gregory Parham, the field was narrowed to 15 semifinalist. From those 15, after a swimsuit and gown presentation, they went to a final 5. Host Rob Williams asked a final question that would eventually end with the crowning of the new Miss Ohio Teen USA 2006.

The new Miss Ohio Teen USA 2006 is Peyton McCormick, 16 of West Chester. This was her first attempt at the title. She is a junior at Lakota West High School, and eventually would like to attend Ohio State University or Guildhall School for the Arts in London. She would like to pursue Acting or Fashion Design and become an actress.
