» MISS OAKLAND PARK USA/MISS BROWARD USA UPDATES:

Hello Ladies,

Let us introduce ourselves. We are the Directors for the Preliminary pageants that lead to the Miss Florida USA® & Miss Florida Teen USA® state pageant that are televised. Our pageants are Miss Pembroke Pines USA®, Miss Pembroke Pines Teen USA®, Miss Treasure Coast USA®, Miss Treasure Coast Teen USA®, Miss Homestead/Florida Keys USA®, Miss Homestead/Florida Keys Teen USA®, Miss Broward County USA®, Miss Broward County Teen USA®, Miss Oakland Park USA® and Miss Oakland Park Teen USA®.

Our up coming pageants will be the Miss Oakland Park USA®, Miss Oakland Park Teen USA® & the Miss Broward County USA® with a Miss Broward County Teen USA®. These pageants will be held on November 20, 2005 at the Collins Community Center in Oakland Park. It will begin at 4pm. Delegates will be required to come at 8am.

The application fee is $150.00 required with the application by November 11 and the registration fee of $200.00 will be required on pageant day. You may obtain sponsors from your community or family to defer the cost of the registration fee.

Schedule for pageant day are several seminars. We will have a work shop on Dealing with questions and answers, on stage Strategies and more. Also a Make up session with Spa representative.

» MISS SOUTHWEST FLORIDA USA DATES AND LOCATION:

We have confirmed the date and location for the Miss Southwest FL USA/TEEN USA, it will be March 18, 2006 at Lake Kennedy Senior Center 400 Santa Barbara Boulevard Cape Coral, FL 33991. Deadline to enter is February 28, 2006. Entry fee will be $375.00 made payable to Posh Productions, LLC 11856 Quail Run Drive, Fort Myers, FL 33908. Contact # 239.823.3937.

» HANDS ON MIAMI DAY VOLUNTEERS NEEDED:

Hi everyone! I'm participating in an event in Miami in a couple of weeks, and I thought I'd see if anyone else would like to join in the fun. The event is called Hands On Miami Day, and it's December 3rd from 7:30 to 12:30. You can read all the details at www.handsonmiami.com, but it's basically a huge (3000 + people) community revitalization project all around Miami. Our "team" will be assigned a project (examples include painting, planting, etc.), and we'll meet at Bayside (downtown Miami) to be bused to our location. I know it's an early start, but it only takes a few hours, and I thought we could all do lunch and/or the beach afterward. I've already received responses from a couple of other "old" pageant girls, so it should be a really fun group. If anyone from Broward or farther would like to come, there is plenty of room at my condo for Friday night (it's literally 10 minutes from the event).

Whatever It Takes
Battling The Four Eyed Monsters

We all hear stories about how films get made, but less attention is paid to the anguishing process of getting a film seen by an audience. Follow the moving and comical adventure of two filmmakers as they try to distribute their film.

In 2005, Susan Buice and Arin Crumley screened their film, Four Eyed Monsters, at several festivals including Gen Art's. Around the same time, they began shooting a prequel in the form of a video podcast. In twenty plus episodes (each four to five minutes long) you'll see this couple struggle to make rent, stay together and get their movie seen. This is the latest incarnation of reality television and it's seriously compelling. With the release of the video iPod, the buzz around the directors is hitting hyper-drive due to their skillful storytelling and use of cutting edge technology.
