Dear Miss Florida USA Family:

Welcome to another edition of YOUR Miss Florida USA & Miss Florida Teen USA Magazine YOUR information source for everything pageantry in the Sunshine State. This week we close The Road to Hollywood as the final three titles and passes to state are in play. What began in October in Hollywood has lead to 38 titles throughout our state! I want to thank all of our directors, volunteers, delegates, families and friends who I have met through my travels around the state this year. We are blessed to have such a supportive group of supporters who make what I do so enjoyable.

Last week The Road To Hollywood seemed like an easy weekend as only two titles were in play, look for reports from Homestead and Coral Springs all of which are reported on in both today’s Ezine and tomorrows Faces and Places. Also we bring you the latest on all of our preliminaries this weekend. Also the latest from Expo Alfresco and the shooting schedule for June’s final pretape session for the state and international television broadcast. All the pageant news that fits to print updated on Thursdays and Fridays only at YOUR Miss Florida USA Ezine, the only Ezine in the pageant world!

Our philanthropic efforts hit the runway last Thursday night for the 5th annual Charity Fashion Show “It’s Never Too Hot For Fashion” has the ladies showing support of our local charities. For the third year the event has raised funds for The Broward Outreach Center, which is the support assistance program for our local homeless. The day started with a 2:00pm call for fittings, makeup and hair. This was a perfect time for the delegates to get to know each other and make friends before state.

Lia Anter hits the catwalk

Our pageant co-director Rachel Uziel lead the rehearsals for the evening, after hitting the runway it was time for final alterations before the event began. The evening started off with a VIP reception that had the leaders of our host city of Hollywood mingling with local dignitaries, business leaders and our own Miss Florida USA family. A silent auction featured such goodies as Spa Weekends at The Westin Diplomat and cruises throughout the Caribbean. A food buffet was highlighted by Hollywood’s local restaurants and highlighted by a chocolate fountain that was perfect for strawberry dipping!

This years delegates/super models included:  Amanda Zitzman (Jacksonville USA), Lia Anter (South Florida USA), Britten Simon (Seminole County USA),  Johanna Torres (North Miami Beach USA), Megan Brooks, Ashley Shannon’s (Boca Raton USA), Rachel Rose (Miss Miami USA) and Laura Lombardo (Broward County Fair) for the Miss USA division and Savannah Stephens (Miss Seminole Teen USA), Marsha Nangkall (at large) and Brittany Houle (Miss Gold Coast Teen USA)

Rachel and Amanda calling their fans to make sure they have front row seats!

This year's men of Hollywood included City Manager Cameron Benson along with Westin Diplomat’s General Manager Mark Kulkulski, Assistant City Manager of Hollywood Rick Lemack; State Representative Ken Gottlieb and City of Hollywood Commissioners Beam Furr, Sal Oliveri and Keith Wasserstrom. It was truly a who’s who of Hollywood both in the audience and on the catwalk!

The Road to Miss Florida USA ventured to the world famous Homestead Speedway as the inaugural Miss Homestead/Florida Keys USA Pageants took place Sunday Night amongst the corporate suites. The evening started with co-pageant producer Henry Halavin introducing the two hostesses of the evening Christian Ericksen, Miss Pembroke Pines Teen USA and Claudia Santiano, Miss Pembroke Pines USA. Up first it was the contestant introductions in their opening outfits. The Teen USA delegates were introduced first as the crowd was very appreciative. Up next the Miss USA delegates greeted the judges and audience in their casual wear opening outfits.

The judges responsible for selecting the evening’s winner were then introduced. The Miss Homestead/Florida Keys USA Judges were Julie Nikortia, Homestead beauty consultant; Ralph Garzi, owner of Ralph’s Hair Salon and 26 year stylist and Nathalie Pozo, Miss Carnavale Miami USA 2007.
