What a fun evening it was as the 10th annual Expo Alfresco was celebrated Wednesday evening on Harrison Street in downtown Hollywood. Miss Florida USA Melissa Witek and nine of this years delegates sample the best of Hollywood’s fine restaurants on this culinary tour of our host city. What a better way of getting ready for all of the great food awaiting them at state! Joining us for the pretape shoot were Lindsay Shockey (Hollywood USA), Amanda Zitzman (Jacksonville USA), Lia Anter (South Florida USA), Britten Simon (Seminole County USA), Yasmin
Navvaro (Carnavale USA), Johanna Torres (North Miami Beach USA), Megan Brooks, Ashley Shannons (Boca Raton USA) and Laura Lombardo (Broward County Fair).

Along the way the girls had a great chance to make new pageant friends and get to know the pageants host city of Hollywood. It was great to see all of the admiring fans of the pageant. Several people knew who the girls were as our “Behind The Scenes at Miss Florida USA 2005” plays several times a week on Hollywood’s very own Hollywood Government TV on Comcast in South Florida. Yes our girls are truly stars in Hollywood. Of course we have pictures….enjoy!

» MISS SOUTHWEST FLORIDA USA SUPER PAGEANT / May 15, 2005

The Road to Hollywood crossed The Everglades to the vacation jewel of The Gulf, Marco Island. For the first time ever M Productions presented Miss Southwest Florida USA Super Pageant! The Radisson Marco Island Resort was the host and venue for the biggest night of pageantry ever seen in Collier County as six pageants were to be awarded amongst the nineteen contestants. Pageant Directors Marianne Oden and Katy Carson outdid themselves with this beautiful host of pageantry.

The pageant actually started on Saturday night with an optional dinner and photo session for the delegates. Friends were being made and beautiful pictures were being taken as a majestic sunset was taking place. The evening gave a special twist to the preliminary pageant experience. Sixteen delegates and their families took advantage of the event.

Sunday morning saw the first of the three competitions taking place as the preliminary interview competition was held starting at 9:00am. The five judges met the delegates for a panel style session. This is the first chance for the judges to meet the delegates and everyone was excited to get the day of pageantry started. It was clear this one going to be one competitive pageant!

The judges for the event were: Stephanie Schaffer; owner of Schaffer Talent Management; Amanda Vincent Yokum, owner of Amanda Vincent Studios and an official hair sponsor of Miss Florida USA; David Nash, acting coach and actor seen in Crossing Jordan: Gisselle Yokun, musician and record producer; and William Nelson, director of a national based Mortgage company.

Then Sunday afternoon the final two competitions for the titles were held in the grand ballroom. Starting with pageant director Marianne Oden who greeted the audience and opened the show with a high energy opening dance number featuring the Black Eyed Peas “Let’s Get It Started” and the delegates in white tops and blue jeans.

Then the audience was then introduced to Miss Florida 2005 USA Melissa Witek who was the afternoon’s hostess. After Ms. Witek greeted the audience and described the activities of the day, the ladies returned for contestant introductions as they greeted the audience for the first time. After the opening number it was time to begin the pageant with onstage interviews with assistance from pageant directors Marianne Oden and Katy Carson.

Soon followed the traditional pageant competitions. The first competition was in swimwear as the delegates competed in one or two-piece suits of their own choosing. Then former Miss Florida America Katy Carson sang a rendition of “Black Velvet” that brought the house down. After that performance it was time for the regal evening gown competition.

While the auditors were tabulating the final results, the special awards were presented to Miss Amity and Miss Photogenic in both categories. These ladies are now eligible for the state competition. Miss Amity awards were given to Jackyn Raulerson and Jami Lynn Daniels as the delegates judged the friendliest delegate. The Miss Photogenic Awards went to Jillian Wunderlich and LauRen Merola for their grace and beauty before the cameras. These awards qualify the winners to be eligible for state this year. Then it was one last presentation of our reigning Miss Naples Teen USA 2005 Courtney Jolley. What a great representative of Naples she was!
