The Road to Hollywood’s second trip to Pensacola this year finds the Miss Escambia Teen USA Pageant being held this Sunday, July 9^th. The fourteen delegates competing for the title begin the production at 5:00pm. Hosting the evening is Dan Shugart, WEAR TV 3 News Caster along with
Event Hostesses; Miss Pensacola USA Krystal McKown and Miss Escambia USA Sarah Zurell will share the duties.

Tuesday July 11

Registration: At exactly one o’clock the 2007 Miss Florida USA Pageant officially begins with delegate registration. The Contestant Coordinators greet the sixty- five delegates competing for the title. The Great Hall Convention Center Lobby is the location.

Registration is where you meet roommates, contestant coordinators, receive the pageant week schedule and hotel room assignments. Those who have not shot their opening as well as Swimsuit Montage shots will immediately go poolside. All others will begin rehearsals for the telecast.

The Hollywood Dining Series

The Holly Trolley picks up our delegates promptly at 5:15pm and headed west towards Downtown Hollywood. It’s Italian food as Mama Mia’s hosts the start of the Hollywood Dining Series. Located right on Young’s Circle, this is their first opening night for Miss Florida USA. The food will be great and so will the pictures. Bon Appetite!

The evening concludes with pageant orientation and television orientation meetings back at The Westin Diplomat.

Wednesday July 12

Breakfast at Satine’s

Wednesday morning starts with a contestant breakfast at Satine’s, the hottest restaurant in South Florida opens up especially for our delegates. Morning announcements are on the agenda and will be led by contestant director Marisol Garcia. The delegates leave breakfast with smiling faces and full stomachs!

Rehearsal! Rehearsals! Rehearsals!

Day number two is all about preparing for the international broadcast on Saturday night. Director Jeff Palmer, Assistant Director John “J.B.” Best and choreographer Vickie Davis have the ladies looking fantastic during the first rehearsal day. The Convention Center of The Westin Diplomat provides the rehearsal space, as our delegates are focus on being the best Miss Florida USA show ever!

The Hollywood Dining Series Pt. II

Las Palmas and Karaoke

As a reward for the delegate’s hard work and effort is good old fashion karaoke! Las Palmas, right on the Intracoastal Waterway of Hollywood, hosts our second night of The Hollywood Dining Series. This beautiful outdoor indoor venue was featured prominently in the movie Too Fast, Too Furious.

Miss Florida USA Fun Night

After a great dinner the girls are off to the Westin Diplomat Resort and Spa for a night of fun, games and teamwork building as Jimmy Jam Productions designed a night just for them. This is definitely an event the young ladies will enjoy! After fun and pageantry it’s off to bed as Thursday begins the competition.

Thursday July 13

Press Photo Day

Thursday morning begins promptly at 9:00am with Press Photo Day poolside amongst the tropical surrounding at The Westin Diplomat. The international paparazzi and the local press converge in anticipation of taking the perfect picture with our models. Politicians also normally attend bearing city keys and state proclamations.

Preliminary Interview Competition

The competition begins Thursday as for the first time the judges and contestants meet. The first impression is made during the Preliminary Interview Competition, which begins at 3:30pm and last through the evening. For the first time at Miss Florida USA the panel style of judging will take place. Should be fun!

Westin Diplomat Celebratory Dinner:

To thank all of our delegates for their efforts both as titleholders and in preparations for the state competition The Westin Diplomat Resort and Spa has a special dinner. Food stations that include; Prime Rib, Sushi, Pasta and Ice Cream Sundays!

Kinda Weird - Hot Chip

Let's face it people, Hot Chip is a weird band. Not only their music, but actually they're kind of freak jobs themselves with their surreal music videos and almost Devo-like traits. Don't believe us? Check out the video for their single "Over and Over" that keeps our head bopping all day long. We look like a bobble head. A Hot Chip bobble head. What can we say? Hot Chip makes you weird, too.

Hot Chip is an import from soggy ol' London, but they're more interesting than other Brit imports. Oh hello Cloud Room! Yes, we're looking at you. The sophomore release from Hot Chip, "The Warning," takes the vinegar out of their first album "Coming On Strong." It's more dance oriented, less heartfelt and is certainly pushing the new genre called electro-soul, which is a mixture of electro, soul, disco and indie rock, too. Make sure to pay attention to their awesome ability to pick-up the instruments Flock of Seagulls ditched when they exited stage left: synths, drum machines and DATs. You're probably going to like the band's single and if that gets you, you're going to want to listen to the very LCD Soundsystem-like "No Fit State" or "(Just Like We) Breakdown." Our favorite song is definitely "And I Was Boy From School." We're calling it as the underground, for those in-the-know, pop/dance song of the summer.

Unlike other electro/indie outfits Hot Chip keeps their music fresh with strange arrangements, tempo changes and perfect harmonies. Come on, who doesn't love a band who writes lyrics like, "Hot Chip will break your legs, snap off your head. Hot Chip will put you down, under the ground?"

Video: Hit The Right Spot

With The Hourly Radio

The Hourly Radio almost sounds like your typical pop band, and then not at all. They remind us of Suede, but then this Dallas foursome kicks in some Cure and a dash of U2 and we're back at square one. What we can say with certainty is the video posted here for their single, "Fear Of Standing Upright" is a stellar example of what you can expect from the band - moody and slightly gentle rock. What's really outstanding about this Dallas quartet is their ability to fuse elements together: bass, drums, guitars and vocals are never in competition, but seamlessly working together. Lead singer Aaron Closson has a gentle voice that falls and accompanies the musical shifts beautifully. The bass line, coming from Tim Jansen, is also insistent without overwhelming any of the other musical action. It's a perfect mix.
