PRELIMINARY PAGEANT NEWS FROM AROUND THE WORLD

» Miss Gold Coast USA & Miss Gold Coast Teen USA - April 2, 2005

The Road To Hollywood visited Palm Beach for the second time in as many weeks as the inaugural Miss Gold Coast USA & Miss Gold Coast Teen USA Pageants took place in Royal Palm Beach. Hosted by Miss Florida USA Alumni Lorraine O’Neil and Local DJ Mike Jamison they welcomed the enthusiastic crowd at The Royal Palm Beach Auditorium. The show started with an outstanding production number as the contestants danced and vogued to Whitney Houston’s remake of Chaka Kahn’s “I’m Every Woman”. Then it was time for the pageant to begin!

The five Miss USA and eight Miss Teen USA delegates opened the show with introductions in purple Miss Gold Coast Pageant t-shirts with the teen delegates in white slacks and skirts with the Miss USA delegates in black pants or skirts. After the high energy opening it was time for the first of three performances by local dance troupe from Giselle’s Dance Studio of Palm Beach.

The judges for the evening included: Marcie S. Once the competition was over the visiting queens and preliminary directors were brought onstage for an impromptu version of “We Are Family”. Then it was time for the first awards of the evening.

PRELIMINARY PAGEANT UPDATES!

» Miss Daytona Beach USA Update:

First, our web sites are up and running!!  The address for the Teen is www.missdaytonabeachteen.com  and the Miss USA site is www.missdaytonausa.com.  Second, we are allowing contestant's from all over the state to compete in the pageant! We successfully rescheduled the pageant.  It will now take place May 27-29, 2005 at the Ormond Beach Performing Arts Center.  We have meetings scheduled to talk to city officials and sponsors about the possibility of giving away at least two additional titles, Miss Ormond Beach USA/Teen USA, and Miss Holly
Hill USA/Teen USA.  And if we can find enough sponsors we will even give out a Miss Volusia County USA/Teen USA OR a Miss East Coast USA/Teen USA title.

We are very excited about working with the Ormond Beach Performing Arts Center.  The staff is so fantastic and I can say that they are thrilled that the pageants will
be held at their theatre.  Also, the person who is in charge of our event (and runs the Box Office) is Melanie Schmotzer, Michelle's (Miss Florida Teen USA 1999) little sister.  I've
known Melanie since she was 14 and it is really like having family at the theatre.

We do have a mandatory orientation for contestants on Sunday, May 1st at the Daytona Beach Community College Theater Center.  The orientation is a valuable tool for contestants.  We will have a photographer at Orientation to take the contestant's official headshots for the program book.  Orientation is also where we will distribute tickets for the pageant and let contestants know what they will need for the opening number.  There are no additional fees required for attendance.  We do understand if out of town contestants have prior plans or cannot travel.  If for some reason they cannot attend, we are willing to work with them to get the information covered at Orientation.

If contestants are interested in competing in the pageant, they can fill out an on-line application at www.missdaytonabeachteen.com or www.missdaytonausa.com

I will update you as soon as we know anything else.
Thanks, KIM DECKER.
