Miss Florida USA Day Schedule Announced!

For the fifth year it’s the Miss Florida USA Seminar Day hosted by The Hollywood Production Center in Hollywood. The soundstages will be full of aspiring Miss Florida USA’s as this event is mandatory for all preliminary titleholders. If you have never competed at state then you need to attend this day. Even if you are just thinking of competing at state you need to be here. This pageant is as close as a state can get to nationals so learn all the tips from those who have been there.

The day will unveil this years schedule for state but it will have so much more! Guest speakers feature pageant interview guru Don Baker leading an informative working session on the mental side of pageantry. We bring back Jamie Converse Estrada (Miss Florida USA 1998) who last year had all the ladies taking notes as she reviled many pageant tips and secrets. Also Pageant Co-Directors Rachel Uziel and Mary Lou Gravitt lead a seminar called Selecting The Perfect Gown and Swimsuit.

Everyone Invited:

As you can see this day is perfect for both the novice and the pageant veteran. We would enjoy all of Florida’s Pageant Family to attend this event, if you are competing in another pageant but would like to hear some of the finest minds in pageantry then join us also!

PRELIMINARY PAGEANT UPDATES!

» Miss North Miami Beach USA & Miss North Miami Beach Teen USA - April 16, 2005

The finalist for Miss North Miami Beach USA await the results.

The Road To Hollywood ventured about three miles south on I-95 for the inaugural Miss North Miami Beach USA & Miss North Miami Beach Teen USA Pageants. Hosted by Miss Florida USA 2004 Kristen Berset it was the first time a Miss USA preliminary pageant has ventured into North Miami Dade. And judging by the enthusiastic crowd at The North Miami Beach Performing Arts Center this will be the first of many visits!

Before the pageant started all of the delegates competed in the interview competition in the Performing Arts Center. The interviews began with self- introductions along with a few words about their career or educational aspirations. Then it was a panel session with all six judges asking questions but only three judges per competition judging. The judges responsible for the selection of Miss North Miami Beach Teen USA were Michelle Schmuely, John Robert Powers Marketing Executive; Nathalie Pozo; Miss Carnavale Miami USA 2007, and actress on Univision’s “Despierta America” and Melanie T. Popper ; Director of Development for Nova Southeastern Universities Fischler School of Education and Human Services and President of The Greater North Miami Beach Chamber of Commerce. Judging the Miss North Miami Beach USA Pageant were Kiki Maycock-Bertani, Field Marketing Manager for the New York marketing agency The Strategic Group. Anastagia Pierre, Miss Florida Teen USA 2004 and Marc Durso, president of Act True and the official acting coach of Miss Florida USA.

The seven Miss USA and four Miss Teen USA delegates opened the show with self-introductions complete with the delegates in bright, colorful tops and white pants. This was the first chance the audience had to meet the young ladies. Then the pageantry competition began as it was time for the swimwear competition, the delegates competed in one-piece suits of their own choosing. Then it was everyone favorite, the evening gown competition showed the delegates flair for

fashion. All competitions ended with group comparison judging.

During competition breaks Ms. Berset interviewed some of the traveling titleholders as the first interview featured Diane Crawford, Miss Hollywood Teen USA; Christian Erickson, Miss Pembroke Pines Teen USA and Brittany Houle, Miss Gold Coast Teen USA. Then it was time to call Lindsay Shockey, Miss Hollywood USA and Claudia Santiano, Miss Pembroke Pines USA who were their to support their new neighboring titleholders. As soon as the votes were tabulated by official auditor Maxine Hanchard-Foote of Regions Bank in North Miami Beach they were handed to Ms. Berset to read the judges results. Up first were the special awards for the days:

Miss Amity is Marsha Nangkal

Miss Photogenic is Johanna Torres.

Then Ms. Berset called to the front of the stage The Teen USA delegates to read the results for the title of Miss North Miami Beach Teen USA:

3rd Runner Up is Marsha Nangkal.

2nd Runner Up is Lillyann Robbins.

1st Runner Up is Shantavia Davis.

Miss North Miami Beach Teen USA 2006 is Danielle Roundtree!

The finalist for Miss North Miami Beach Teen USA

Then it was time for The Miss USA Divisions results:

2nd Runner Up is Melissa Hernandez

1st Runner Up is Lynsey Coburn

The New Miss North Miami Beach USA 2006 is Johanna Torres!

Big thanks go to the delegates and attendees of our first ever preliminary pageant!  It was truly a great day of pageantry. Congratulations to Ms. Roundtree and Ms. Torres on their victories and entry to state just down the road in Hollywood. Up next is a trip all the way north on I-95 for the Miss Jacksonville/Gainesville USA Super Pageants as two titles are on the line next week on The Road To Hollywood!

The North Miami Beach team going to state!
