What a stay it has been in Baltimore at this years Miss USA Pageant. Our Miss Florida USA Cristin Duren is giving it her all as she competes for our national championship of Pageantry. » Miss Malaysia Universe 2006

KUALA LUMPUR: Beauty and personality won Melissa Ann Tan Swee Yen the Miss Malaysia Universe 2006 title. The 25-year-old brand development associate also charmed her way to five of the 10 subsidiary titles – Miss De Beaute Body Beautiful, Miss Skinnic Perfect Beauty, Miss Wacoal Malaysia, Miss Sachs Personality and Miss TPX Trendy.

“I will set a good example to attract other potential young women to participate in the pageant during my reign as Miss Malaysia Universe,” the Malacca-born Tan said during the question-and-answer session here last night. “That is how I will carry myself as queen for the coming year.”

Tan won RM5,000, a crown, trophy and designer outfits worth RM50,000 to participate in the Miss Universe Pageant 2006 in Los Angeles on July 5-24. The first runner-up was Rehka Athmalingam, 20, and second runner-up 23-year-old Daphne Chan, both students, who won RM3,000 and RM2,000, respectively, as well as other prizes.

“I will carry Malaysia on the batik front focusing on the country's beauty,” said Rehka who was also voted Miss Love and Photogenic, Miss Nelson's Popular, Miss Pola Natural Beauty and Miss Thomas and Guys Crowning Glory. Chan, crowned Miss Congeniality, said after the pageant: “This is a pleasant surprise as I did not see it coming. It has been a good experience and a good learning opportunity while making more friends.”

Jackeline Piccinini, 21 years old and representative of Mazatenango, Suchitepéquez, won the title of Miss Guatemala Universe 2006, this past Monday night during the 27th edition of the national contest. The student of Legal and Social Sciences received the crown of hands of Aída Estrada, Miss Universe Guatemala 2005.

» Trump calls Miss Iraq 'very brave'

Miss Universe pageant owner Donald Trump says he is considering a tribute to the newly crowned Miss Iraq, who has been hiding amid death threats. "She is very proud to have won, and now she is in a very tough position," Trump told Friday's New York Post. "She is extremely brave."

Silvia Shahakian, 23, a Christian of Armenian ancestry, was crowned Sunday when the original winner stepped down after receiving threats from militants. Shahakian told ABC's "Good Morning America" she was going into hiding, but the Post said it is believed she is still in Iraq.

Trump said there may be a special salute to Shahakian during the Miss Universe pageant July 23 in Los Angeles."

A2 Productions would like to invite you to the first ever Miss Ormond Beach USA & Miss

Ormond Beach Teen USA pageant and the return of the Miss Volusia County Teen USA title!

The pageant will be held this Sunday, April 23rd at the Ormond Beach Performing Arts Center.

Doors will open at 5:00pm and the pageant starts at 6:00pm.  The Ormond Beach Performing

Arts Center is located at 399 North US 1, Ormond Beach, FL 32174.

Pageant hosts include:  Barry Kramer, Ashley Panaggio, Meg Perkins, Riley Seegert,

It's Hot In Cuba

Catch The Heat With The Lost City

Overturned cars in Paris; angry mobs in Bangkok; screaming Americans in the streets - it looks like protests are back on vogue. Better get your revolutionary thinkcap on by way of Andy Garcia's flick,"The Lost City."

After sixteen years of work, actor/director Andy Garcia is finally ready to release his celebration of Cuban culture upon audiences. Set in 1958, the film is set before revolution had yet to give the "Pearl of the Antilles" Castro and a new identity. Fico Fellove (Andy Garcia) is the owner of the El Tropico, the hotspot in Havana, which slowly a location of turmoil and danger as the dictatorship falls to pieces. To survive, Fico must make a choice - to stay or leave his beloved Cuba. The movie is like a fever - hot, treacherous and mystifying. Garcia uses sweeping cameras, a strong supporting cast (Bill Murray, Dustin Hoffman) and the power of the national music (mambos, rumbas, toques, boleros) to weave a violent and rich story.

For the record, we're not advocating a revolution Stateside. Although, those fatcat Democrats and Republicans in Washington could use a good kick in their Brooks Brothers pants. Alright, turn off Grey's Anatomy and put down the People magazine. Viva La Revolution! Who's with us?
